RM1575   Rutile with quartz

An amazing rutile specimen with an exceptional quality for the locality and for the species. The famous rutile specimens of Kapudzhukh in Azerbaijan are already a classic. It is said, they appeared during the 90s, for only a period of two years. This specimen shows some crystals, one predominant, perfect faces, first and second order twins and dipyramids, and a more than outstanding definition.
According to explained by Rob Lavinsky, a limited number of pieces were collected during this short period. They were send to United States, at the hands of Bill Larson, through a former official of the KGB, nicknamed "Niki the Tank", who got into mineral collecting and dealing after the Wall fell.

RM1604   Čechite with fluorite

Probably čechite specimens from the "Rasa de l'Alzina" open pit works could be considered between the best crystals for the species worldwide. They are brilliant, black color and show a tabular shape defined by different order orthorhombic prisms and developed pinacoidal faces. They are disposed on a fluorite matrix. This finding is close to the Maria Magdalena mine, near of the beautiful town of Ulldemolins (Tarragona, Catalonia).
SEM-EDS and EPMA analysis show that, in some cases, on the čechite crystal surface we found copper content, but inside the crystal is near to pure PbFe2+(VO4)(OH), with minor Zn(II). In most specimens from other localities the presence of manganese is important, but these specimens are Mn free.

RM1587   Fluorite and baryte

Very rich specimen formed by good size sharp crystals of fluorite, with cubic habit, and very well defined faces and edges, good transparence, intense color between purple and violet with intense zoning. They are accompanied by several tabular crystals of baryte on a matrix layered by small quartz crystals.
These specimens come from the town of Bergheim, known for being on the Alsace wines route. Although fluorite crystals were already known in some of the mining works of the area, these specimens come from a work done in a "domaine" (vineyard) in 2017.

RM1598   Gold, var. electrum and Erythrite

A novelty in Sainte-Marie-aux-Mines (2017). Matrix formed by sulphides, arsenites and arsenates of Co like erythrite, with some crystals, accompanied by several wire to laminar gold aggregates. SEM analysis shows that it is a rich silver gold, variety electrum, unusual. Silver content is similar in all specimens we have analyzed and varies between 20-24% weight.
Under loupe, we can enjoy that some of these gold aggregates are formed by small crystals of octahedral to cubic forms. We can theorize a secondary genesis for this gold-electrum. We have analyzed the matrix of these specimens observing that the bright metallic matrix corresponds to a mixture of cobalt arsenides, probably skutterudite, and other sulphides. We will send all analyzes to the buyer. The gold and electrum in Bou Azer was already described, but the quality of these specimens we offer surpasses what was known.
