RM945   Clinoatacamite and atacamite with Chrysocolla and quartz
Cu2Cl(OH)3

In this specimen we can find two of the most interesting species of this Peruvian mine: clinoatacamite and atacamite. The first one is presented as pseudohexagonal cyclic crystals, wiyth an intense green color. Well defined faces and edges and isolated, allowing to observe them perfectly. The atacamite is presented as tabular prismatic crystals, also with faces and sharp edges, bright green. Matrix is covered by brilliant quartz crystals which transparence allow us to see blue tones of the chrysocolla and malachite.

RM832   Epidote

Of this specimen I'm not sure if emphasize its size or defined faces and edges, or both. It is a sample for lovers of crystallography to those can give good moments! Brilliance, color, marked faces, rich in facets... An unique opportunity to have a crystal of this quality for the species.

Size: 6,8 x 5,0 x 4,8 cm.
Found in 2012.

RM834   Epidote

A very interesting cluster of sharp epidote crystals showing a developed striated prism and parallel growth. Terminal faces are defined by various pinacoids. The brilliance is excellent and the deep green color, near black in thick crystals, could be perfectly observed when light crosses through them. From a Peruvian locality not well represented in collections. Take a look in Mineralogical Record Tom's Online.

Size: 5,5 x 5,3 x 3,8 cm.
Main crystal: 38 x 24 mm.
Found in 2012.

RM833   Gypsum (var. selenite) with halite

A rich group of lenticular gypsum crystals forming rosettes. Some of them are well developed but with another shape, lanceolated and showing swallowtail twin. These are very transparent, defined faces and edges and very aerial disposed on the matrix. Accompanied by some cubic halite transparent and colorless crystals.
Gypsum fluorescence under ultraviolet source is excellent, but the phosphorescence is the most intense and lengthy I've never seen before. An uncommon and aesthetic combination.

Size: 9,5 x 7,7 x 4,8 cm.
Main crystal: 37 x 18 mm. (Gypsum)
Fluorescent and phosphorescent under long wave UV

RM836   Silver and acanthite

Long wire silver crystal aprtially covered by greyish acanthite. It is very aerial disposed on a matrix with quartz, silver and some samll acanthite crystals. It has grown on a quartz crystal as a base. Very aesthetic.

Size: 4,8 x 2,0 x 1,7 cm.
Main crystal: 40 x 2 mm.
Found in 2002.

RM837   Tetrahedrite with quartz and sphalerite

Druse of tetrahedrite crystals with defined faces and edges. Good brilliance, with a metallic-gray tone. They show complex interpenetrating faces. Accompanied by groups of hyaline quartz crystals forming rosettes. Very aesthetic. With sphalerite in the matrix. From a classic Peruvian mine.

Size: 10 x 7,8 x 3,5 cm.
Main crystal: 25 x 22 mm.
Sold
RM838   Tetrahedrite with sphalerite

A very rich group of tetrahedrite crystals with an intense metallic luster and deep black color, with well defined faces and edges. Faces show complex growth and some vertices are truncated by opposite tetrahedron faces. They are accompanied by groups of sphalerite crystals, complex forms, easily distinguished by its grayish dull sheen. Highlight the intense orange fluorescence of this sphalerite probably due to the presence of cadmium in its crystal lattice. From the Jaqui adit, a diferent locality not well represented in collections.

RM736   Realgar with pararealgar, seligmanite and galena

This specimen shows several mineral species. The matrix which "supports" all of them is a group of huge size galena crystals with sharp cube-octahedral faces. Partially covering them we can see large groups of flattened realgar crystals. As alteration of these realgar crystals, due to the light, we have a patina, between yellow to orange, pararealgar. Between these galena crystals some orpiment aggregates, with a very intense yellow color.
We would like to emphisize in this specimen the presence of numerous seligmanite (PbCuAsS3) prismatic crystals, with a luster that makes them stand out. Evidently magnification is necessary to enjoy all their forms. Accompanied by chalcopyrite, pyrite and quartz. As you can see, it is a complete and representative specimen from this Peruvian mine.

Size: 7,5 x 6,0 x 5,5 cm.
