RM1872   Talmessite with cobaltoan calcite

Interesting specimen formed by several aggregates of tabular talmessite crystals, standing out on the calcite matrix. In order to confirm the species, we carried out a chemical analysis using SEM-EDS, which confirms the presence of Ca and Mg and the almost absence of Co, consistent with talmessite or wendwilsonite. On the other hand, X-ray diffraction confirms talmessite. Performing this structural (XRD) and compositional analysis (SEM-EDS) allows us to delimit the species. Spheroidal aggregates of slightly curved faces and edges. Color and luster are magnificent for the species and contrast on a base of small slightly pink crystals of calcite (Mn), on matrix. We'll send a the analysis to the buyer.

RM1857   Talmessite with cobaltoan calcite

Very curious globular aggregates formed by prismatic crystals that vary their composition according to the zone, although the XR diffraction study shows that it is talmessite, without discarding that in some parts of the aggregate a higher cobalt content is observed. These aggregates are disposed on a matrix of cobaltoan calcite, together with manganese oxides. Very interesting.

In this specimen we can enjoy groups of tabular crystals showing well defined faces and parallel growths. They are interpenetrated between them and accompanied by small but perfect tabular wulfenite crystals. Some of them present small ding, very common in this samples, but this one is really good. The brilliance is good and in thin parts showing transparence. They are very aerial disposed on the matrix.

RM1854   Atzurite
Cu3(CO3)2(OH)2

A prismatic crystal that just looks like the typical ones from Touissit, but a more detailed check shows the unusual richness of the termination, with lots of faces. Definition, brilliance, and color are the outstanding features of this sample. This azurite crystal, in the form of a broad spear point, exhibits electric blue highlights, lustre, and numerous step faces on both sides of the of the crystal. It is a magnificent crystal with only one minor ding/contact on one terminal face, otherwise, it is really aesthetic. A very old specimen, very difficult to get nowadays.

An excellent twin of cerussite, partially transparent, with alternating color zoning, slightly smoked. A complete piece, in very good condition for the usual of these specimens, with only a tiny chipping in the upper part and nicks in the base, from my point of view without affecting the beauty of the specimen. Very difficult to find today and really appreciated by collectors.

Excellent specimen of vanadinite formed by several medium-sized crystals, on which groups of larger crystals have been grown. They show the shapes of the hexagonal prism, with slightly striated faces, and with smooth pinacoidal faces. The brilliance and color are more than exceptional. It presents a very intense garnet red color in the central areas of the prism and a redder tone in the pinacoids. Under the incident light it is spectacular. This specimen comes from the ACF shaft, in Mibladen, and was mined on February 6, 2018 and we were very lucky to be there. Pieces with this crystal size and quality are very unusual...

RM1767   Gold with malachite and bornite

Novelty obtained on my last trip to Morocco (02/2018). These are brilliant aggregates of gold formed by numerous crystals rich in faces, curved faces and disposed on a matrix of quartz. The SEM-EDS analyzes show that this gold contains a small percentage of silver (<1% weight). They are accompanied by fibrous aggregates of malachite and gray bornite crystals. This specimen stands out for the contrast between the brilliant gold and the green/gray matrix. An exceptional piece. Bleida is a mine located on the eastern rim of the Bou Azzer district.

RM1755   Gold, var. electrum and Erythrite

These specimens show a matrix formed by arsenates such as erythrite and associated sulphides and arsenates of cobalt and iron. We can observe on both the presence of arborescent, filiform and laminar gold aggregates. SEM analysis has shown that this is a variety of gold rich in silver (23-24%w): electrum.
Under loupe, we can enjoy that some of these gold aggregates are formed by small crystals of octahedral to cubic forms. We can theorize a secondary genesis for this gold-electrum. We have analyzed the matrix of these specimens observing that the bright metallic matrix corresponds to a mixture of cobalt arsenides, probably skutterudite, and other sulphides. We will send all analyzes to the buyer. The deposit where the electrum appeared has been totally covered by mine lands, so more samples can not be obtained on the field. A very rich gold-electrum specimen.
