RM3153   Goethite, pyrolusite and romanechite

Aesthetic specimen that combines an upper part formd by goethite botryoidal aggregates, with a semi-matt luster, and a lower part with stalactitic growths of manganese oxides. They are accompanied by hematite of intense red color and baryte. A very interesting specimen from "la Sierra de la Unión".

RM2553   Romanèchite

These are the most fine quality romanèchite specimens ever found in Spain. These botryoidal aggregates show the velvet surface formed by several small romanèchite/pyrolusite crystals (see SEM photo). These specimens has not been treated, only fresh water. Romanèchite shows in fresh fracture the classic grey color. You can observe small but brilliant crystals of pyrolusite on the stalactitic surface. Analysis will be send to the buyer.

Rich specimen formed by several aggregates of thick pseudo-hexagonal baryte crystals, with luster, white to yellowish colour, that stand out on a matrix of goethite. The baryte specimens from this Spanish mine are highly prized by collectors. This specimen belongs from the former J. Astor collection (Barcelona). With old labels.

A very notable specimen for the size of the pyrolusite sharp crystals, which form brilliant aggregates. In some areas they are partially covered by small botryoidal aggregates of goethite, black and very bright. A place under the magnifying glass.

RM1822   Pyrolusite and Romanéchite

Good specimen formed by various manganese oxides, with tabular crystals of pyrolusite forming brilliant rosettes, on botryoidal aggregates of romanèchite-pyrolusite. A good old piece. Acquired by Sr. Manchion in the former minerals fair held in 1985 in L'Hospitalet de Llobregat, close to Barcelona.

These specimens of orange-colored baryte are a classic of the mineralogy of the La Unión-Cartagena area. This piece stands out for the intense brightness and a marked color zoning, which shows banded zoning on the tabular crystals, those form aesthetic rosettes. Very elegant specimen.

RM1466   Pyrolusite and Romanèchite

Bright, very bright aggregates of tabular crystals of pyrolusite, very well defined, and disposed on a matrix of botryoidal romanèchite. They come from a recent find in this classic Murcia mine. Both species have been analyzed and the result will be sent to the buyer. Very aesthetic specimen.

RM1019   Hydrohetaerolite with calcite and hemimorphite

In the matrix of goethite we observe several cavities covered by small brilliant crystals, gray metallic luster; once analyzed results indicated to be hydrohetaerolite. We discuss whether it is hetaerolita, but analysis carried by Joan Viñals indicated the hydrated form. Under the SEM-EDS, tetragonal dipyramids are observed. It is accompanied by calcite crystals and hemimorphite (tabular crystals in book shape). SEM-EDS analysis will be sent to buyer.

On a thin limonite matrix we can enjoy two aggregates and aesthetic baryte rosettes formed by lenticular crystals are arranged. Both aggregates are complete, but one of them shows an unusual perfection. It comes from a mine known for its ocher tone barytes,but this shape is not very common in this mine.
