Intense green paratacamite crystals from a Chilean mine where the species has been well identified. The crystals are prismatic, sharp, lustrous, and transparent. A very good specimen for the species.
Leightonite is a rare copper sulfate with calcium and potassium, K₂Ca₂Cu(SO₄)₄·2H₂O, formed in arid climates, as is the case with this specimen from the type locality of Chuquicamata mine in Chile. This specimen shows various greenish areas of this mineral. The specimen was collected by mineral dealer G. Farber in 1988, and later acquired from David Shannon by Catalan collector E. Nicolau.
Rich clusters of sharp schwartzembergite orange lenticular crystals. It is a very rare lead cloroiodate, Pb₅H₂(IO₂)O₄Cl₃. Under magnification we can see some percylite bluish aggregates. It is one of the specimens those remembered Dr. Joan Viñals (1951-2013) brought and studied from his trip to Chile in beginning of 2000's. This specimen comes from the E. Nicolau collection (Barcelona).
Tamarugite is a rare sodium aluminium sulphate with the formula NaAl(SO₄)₂·6H₂O, which usually appears as white crusts made up of tiny crystals. In this specimen it is accompanied by kröhnkite, another sodium sulphate but this one with copper Na₂Cu(SO₄)₂·2H₂O, in the form of blue-green, translucent elongated crystals. Both rare species!
NOTE: These specimens are natural, formed in a mine, and have nothing to do with those from mine water rafts that were sold years ago at exorbitant prices.

This specimen was labelled as Directorio 8 mine, Tocopilla, by Dr. Joan Viñals (1951-2013) but in this mindat locality, clinoatacamite is not referenced. In this specimen we can observe several defined lenticular clinoatacamite green crystals, with transparence and brilliance, accompanied by brilliant gypsum and bluish lavendulan aggregates. Lavendulan is described in Directorio 8 mine.
A very rich specimen of lammerite aggregates, green in color, in several geodes we can observe crystals of this rare copper arsenate. It is accompanied by groups of blue lemanskiite crystals (previously identified as lavendulana).
Rich group of orange lenticular crystals of schwartzembergite, analyzed by SEM-EDS, accompanied by seeligerite, of a light yellow color. Both are rare lead cloroiodates. It is one of the several specimens those remembered Dr. Joan Viñals (1951-2013) brought and studied from his trip to Chile in first years of 2000's. With the E. Kucera (Barcelona) label.
