RM3765   Carlhintzeite & creedite
Ca₂[AlF₆]F·H₂O
  -  3. Halides

A recent novelty. In this specimen, we can observe radial globular aggregates formed by carlhintzeite crystals—ranging from tabular to acicular—very sharp, transparent, and showing a yellowish to colorless hue. As is customary, we proceeded to analyze several specimens and observed that the transparent crystals displaying these tabular habits are also carlhintzeite, with the shade varying from yellow to colorless within the same crystal.

This specimen is accompanied by transparent creedite crystals, which exhibit distinct prismatic forms. Both species are halides, but creedite contains sulfur from its sulfate group, allowing us to identify it via electron microscopy as well. We will include the analytical results for the buyer of the specimen.

Size: 6 x 4 x 2.5 cm.
