Fluorescent and phosphorescent under long wave UV

Curious specimen of greenockite of this classic locality of the Catalan mineralogy. Under loupe, aggregates of intense yellow color are observed, with reflections of what could be crystalline faces. This cadmium sulphide is a product of the alteration of rich Cd sphalerite. It is impossible to get specimens today.

Very, very aesthetic specimen, unusual, showing two globular aggregates of smithsonite, colorless, transparent that let us see a whitish crystal aggregate core, with very curious growth. They are accompanied by small crystals of the same species in the form of globular grains. To give a touch of color and quality, several aggregates of olive green adamite crystals, visible terminal faces, bright, translucent and sprinkling the goethite matrix. It is an exceptional and rare old material from the Manchion Collection. Probably this specimen comes from the Palomas Oriente area of the mine. Pure aesthetics... Floater specimen. Excelent group of vanadinite crystals showing a defined hexagonal shape, with very well defined faces and edges, intense red color. Good brilliance and some transparence, with internal reflections between red and orange. Crystals size is remarkable. A piece with two faces. One of them, crystals are disposed in an isolated way on a barite lenticular rosette crystals. In the other, they are forming rich crystalline groups. The presence of this baryte matrix is highly appreciated by collectors and gives to the specimen a special aesthetics.

Acanthite in the specimens of the Balcoll mine, usually appears in small crystals. In this piece there are several groups of acanthite crystals of good size, showing facets of the cube and the octahedron, some of them have grown on skeletal aggregates of native silver. Classic locality

Glaucophane is an unusual species member of the amphibol group. This Italian locality is known worldwide for the good specimens of this species. It is usually covered with calcite, which once removed shows sculptural aggregates of striated tabular to prismatic translucent crystals, with an intense bluish-gray color, almost violet. In the cavities appear small orange crystals of rutile and groups of chromian muscovite (var. fuchsite). Pyrite crystals also can be found. A good sized and very aesthetic combination from this classic locality.

This English specimen shows us a group of calcite crystals, one of them of larger size, interpenetrated, twinned, with a color between honey to white. With defined faces and edges, translucent. In the back it shows a exfoliated part. A sample from a mine not well represented in collections. From the Adrian collection, a dealer and collector from the United Kingdom. Fluorescent under long wave UV

These specimens of wulfenite with the chocolate brown to orange tone are very appreciated by collectors and very difficult to see today, unless they come from former collections with tradition. This specimen shows a large group of tabular crystals, very brilliant and translucent, few small nick that does not affect the aesthetics of the specimen. A classic piece.

Very curious specimen of hydroxylapophyllite-(K) formed by numerous crystals inside a geode resembling a nodule. They are accompanied by small needles of calcite very fluorescent (bluish).

Very rich curite specimen, with some intense orange color crystals and the rest black due to being coated by heterogenite. The sample comes from the former Coune collection and according to its owner was adquired from the 90s, but specimen could be older. Curite crystals are disposed in a very contrasted way on the white matrix. From the type locality for the species.

Classic locality

The label of this specimen reads "Sevilla". In the catalog of the Manchion collection it is mentioned that this piece of schorl-dravite was acquired to Dr. Joan Viñals, at the Granollers fair in 1988. For that reason, in the absence of more info, we will leave this wonderful Andalusian region as its origin. M. Calvo talks about tourmalines in pegmatites from the Los Ángeles mine, near El Castillo de las Guardas, in Seville.

Group of very well defined cuprite crystals showing very unusual facets both for the species and for this classic locality for the species. They have very well defined faces of the cube and the octahedron, together with those of the dodecahedron. Under intense light the red transparency is observed, but the surface shows a gray patina, the years have passed away. They are placed on a cavity of brilliant calcite crystals. An interesting rarity.
