The label of this sample indicates that it is a specimen from Reocín. The matrix is a dolomite, different from the usual matrix of Udías hydrozincite specimens, which is usually limonite. In addition, the piece was acquired from Enric Kucera, who is usually quite precise in the labeling. It comes from the Joan Astor collection (Barcelona), with a handwritten label and typewritten box.
Marcassite specimens from Reocín mine are a classic of the Spanish mineralogy. This piece, of very good size (16 cm/ 6.3 in), is a worthy representative of this species. It presents numerous well-defined crystals, most of them showing the "cock's comb" twinned habit. The brightness is very remarkable. The specimen is more than 20 years old and does not present any alteration, favored by the carbonate matrix. A definitive piece for fine displays.
A very rich druse of marcasite crystals those clearly show the cockscomb twin. Brilliant, defined and very aesthetic. A Spanish classic.
Group of octahedral crystals of galena, well defined, some vertices truncated by the cube. They are disposed on a brilliant matrix covered by twinned marcasite, small rhombohedral crystals of dolomite and sphalerite with a honey color and transparence.
A sample from a classic Spanish locality. Old specimen, so the stability can be ensured.
On a matrix covered by small dolomite and some calcite crystals is disposed in a very aerial shape a huge size calcite crystal. It shows well defined faces and edges and the rotation twin. It is not a doubly terminated crystal, it is a 180º twinned crystals. Complete and no damage. With a tastefull silky luster and translucent. A delicate yellowish tone increases its aesthetics on the white matrix. It is not common see these specimens from this classic Spanish mine.
