RM1161   Vanadinite with Baryte

Excelent group of vanadinite crystals showing a defined hexagonal shape, with very well defined faces and edges, intense red color. Good brilliance and some transparence, with internal reflections between red and orange. Main crystals size and thickness are remarkable. They are disposed very aerial and isolated on a lenticular baryte matrix. The presence of this baryte matrix is highly appreciated by collectors and gives to the specimen a special aesthetics.

Floater specimen. Excelent group of vanadinite crystals showing a defined hexagonal shape, with very well defined faces and edges, intense red color. Good brilliance and some transparence, with internal reflections between red and orange. Crystals size is remarkable. A piece with two faces. One of them, crystals are disposed in an isolated way on a barite lenticular rosette crystals. In the other, they are forming rich crystalline groups. The presence of this baryte matrix is highly appreciated by collectors and gives to the specimen a special aesthetics.

RM477   Vanadinite with barite

Coud'a area, Mibladen, Khénifra, Meknès-Tafilalet, Morocco

Group of vanadinite crystals showing a defined hexagonal shape, with very well defined faces and edges, intense red color. Good brilliance and some transparence, with internal reflections between red and orange. Main crystals size are remarkable. They are disposed very aerial on a lenticular barite crystal matrix. The presence of this barite matrix is highly appreciated by collectors and gives to the specimen a special aesthetics.

This sample was collected from one of these shafts where berber (amazigh) miners are working hard during months till they found a vug. This extended area, called Coud'a (Coudia), is located about half mile from well known ACF mine, but it is not the same mine.
The vanadinite veins mined in Coud'a, which are approximately 30 to 50 feet deep, are not the same than ACF mine and their particular mineralogy.

Specimen with a very good size formed by several vanadinite crystals, with an intense red color, translucent and showing a defined prism truncated by pinacoidal faces. On a rocky matrix and peppering developed barite aggregates in a book shape. Very brilliant specimen.

RM867   Vanadinite with Baryte

ACF Mine, Mibladen, Khénifra, Meknès-Tafilalet, Morocco

Spectacular specimen with a very good size formed by several and isolated vanadinite crystals, with an intense red color, with zoning, translucent and showing a defined prism truncated by pinacoidal faces and complex aggregates. Very aerial disposed on a rocky matrix and on the barite which forms aggregates in a book shape. Very displayable and unusual specimen.

RM483   Wulfenite with barite

In this specimen we can observe some groups of tabular wulfenite crystals of  intense, very intense orange color, showing defined faces and parallel growth. If anything distinguishes these wulfenite crystals is its vivid color. The brilliance is excellent and in thin areas show transparence. Some of the dominant crystals are disposed very aerial and accompanied by groups of barite crystals. If you observe closely the specimen under the microscope you will see numerous perfect tabular crystals of wulfenite. Very aesthetic specimen.

Groups of tabular wulfenite crystals of intense orange color, showing parallel growth. If anything distinguishes these wulfenite crystals is its vivid color. The brilliance is excellent and in thin areas show transparence. Disposed very aerial and accompanied by fan-shaped barite crystals.

RM1509   Wulfenite and baryte

In this good size specimen we can observe a group of tabular wulfenite crystals showing well defined faces and parallel growths. They are interpenetrated between them and accompanied by small but perfect tabular wulfenite crystals on matrix. The brilliance is excellent and in thin parts they show transparence. They are very aerial disposed on a matrix of baryte crystals, with cerussite and dolomite.

Groups of pyromorphite crystals (analyzed), some individualized, which are disposed, with a very aesthetic contrast, on a matrix of goethite. The yellowish green color is very intense, exceptional brilliance, translucent to transparent. They show defined hexagonal prisms truncated by the pinacoid, some of them insinuate the hexagonal dipyramid faces. Under magnifying glass transparency we can be seen perfectly.

They come from a Moroccan locality that once was known by the presence of pyromorphite, but not with this quality and less represented in collections. Few specimens have been presented at Sainte-Marie-aux-Mines 2015.

Very curious group of calcite crystals showing forms twinned. Bright, with defined faces and curved edges. They are accompanied by aggregates of tiny crystals of pyrite, partially included in the calcite. Reddish fluorescence under UV light. Uncommon Moroccan specimens.

A very aesthetic group of stalactitic goethite-hematite growth showing a very aerial disposition from this classic Moroccan locality. We can observe reddish radiated growths in fractured stalactites on the matrix.

Two generations of vanadinite crystals. A good-sized brilliant crystals, with echeloned growths and defined faces and edges. With good color yellow and peppered by deep black coronadite globular aggregates. Another generation shows small crystals (<1 mm) but with a nice luster, transparence, and yellowish tone. Both are on a matrix of goethite.

RM370   Vanadinite with Coronadite and Mottramite

A group of very curious yellowish vanadinite hexagonal crystals disposed on a layer of botryoidal coronadite acicular aggregates which are covering the goethite vugs. Accompanied by small but defined mottramite crystals forming clusters partially covering vanadinite crystals. They show a honey to brown color and dipyramidal faces and skeletal growths. A nice sample to be enjoyed on the display and under the microscope.

RM366   Vanadinite with Coronadite and Mottramite

In this excellent specimen we can observe different vanadinite crystals phases. The first is formed by botryoidal aggregates of small vanadinite crystals. Brilliant, translucent and with a yellow to greenish tones. On a second generation, we have huge size and brilliant crystals, with yellow to orange color, which show rounded faces and edges, one of them having a drop shape. One of the cavities of the goethite matrix is covered by very sharp and brilliant lanceolated prismatic crystals of mottramite. Also accompanied bybotryoidal coronadite. Novelty in SMM-2012.
