RM2718 Kolwezite and cobaltoan calcite
Mupine Mine, Kamoto, Kolwezi mining district, Lualaba, Congo, Democratic Republic ofExceptional specimen of kolwezite, which occurs as globular aggregates of olive-green crystals, partially covered by a yellowish earthy patina. They are disposed on a matrix of pink crystals of cobaltoan calcite. An exceptional sample for the species. We have analyzed it to check the content of Co. The average of various analyzes indicates a Co: Cu ratio of 1: 2.3-2.6, consistent with some results from other specimens with 1: 2 ratios. Various black aggregates appear in the sample, sometimes partially covering kolwezite, which corresponds to heterogenite. Also with small malachite crystals.

RM2425 Lueshite
Lueshe Mine, Bwito, Rutshuru Territory, North Kivu, Congo, Democratic Republic ofAnalyzed crystal of lueshite, from the Type Locality. Lueshite is a rare sodium niobate. These samples came out only sporadically, and mostly 20-plus years ago. In this specimen it shows the presence of Ca and Ti, probably minor fersmite. Analysis will be sent to the buyer.

A different piece of this classic mine.

Musonoi Mine, Kolwezi, Katanga, Congo, Democratic Republic ofIn my opinion, among all known radioactive minerals, kasolite is the most aesthetic. It presents forms of elongated to tabular prisms, very well defined and sharp, many of them doubly terminated and of intense yellow color, even with some transparency. It is accompanied by guilleminite crystals of yellowish color. The matrix is partially covered by brilliant malachite. A aesthetic sample from a classic locality, to be observed with attention.

Kabolela Mine, Kambove District, Katanga Copper Crescent, Katanga, Congo, Democratic Republic ofHeterogeneite specimens of Kabolela are among the most appreciated by systematic mineral collectors. This piece shows a botryoidal aggregate, of which we consider HCoO2 formula, according to the latest studies on the species. Intense black color, brilliance, waxy luster... A classic and very aesthetic definitive specimen.

RM1790 Cuprite with calcite
Mashamba West Mine, Kolwezi, Katanga, Congo, Democratic Republic ofGroup of very well defined cuprite crystals showing very unusual facets both for the species and for this classic locality for the species. They have very well defined faces of the cube and the octahedron, together with those of the dodecahedron. Under intense light the red transparency is observed, but the surface shows a gray patina, the years have passed away. They are placed on a cavity of brilliant calcite crystals. An interesting rarity.

RM1600 Cuprite and Malachite
Mashamba West Mine, Kolwezi, Katanga, Congo, Democratic Republic ofThese cuprite crystals from Kolwezi mines are a classic of worldwide mineralogy. In this specimen the crystal shows defined faces and edges, with intense red color under the light. It is disposed in a cavity with needle malachite crystal aggregates. Crystal has no damage, the back side shows natural rounded forms. A very aesthetic and difficult to see specimen.

RM1392 Kamotoite-(Y)
Kamoto East Open cut, Kamoto, Kolwezi, Katanga, Congo, Democratic Republic ofThe kamotoite-(Y) are the intense yellow crystalline sprays, with individual flat-laying crystals to 5 mm. brilliant and transperent. In the same sample we can observe probably a small vein of yellow to orange brilliant uranophane. Kamoto is the Type Locality for the species. A very rare uranium and ytrium mineral from Katanga.
