RM1767   Gold with malachite and bornite

Bleida Far West, Bou Azzer, Ouarzazate, Drâa-Tafilalet, Morocco

Novelty obtained on my last trip to Morocco (02/2018). These are brilliant aggregates of gold formed by numerous crystals rich in faces, curved faces and disposed on a matrix of quartz. The SEM-EDS analyzes show that this gold contains a small percentage of silver (<1% weight). They are accompanied by fibrous aggregates of malachite and gray bornite crystals. This specimen stands out for the contrast between the brilliant gold and the green/gray matrix. An exceptional piece. Bleida is a mine located on the eastern rim of the Bou Azzer district.

RM1765   Silver cubic crystals

Aït Ahmane (filon 53), Bou Azzer, Ouarzazate, Drâa-Tafilalet, Morocco

This specimen stands out for showing arborescent growths of very well defined silver cubic crystals. In addition, the piece comes from a Moroccan mine from which few samples of this type and quality have been collected. To add more importance to the piece, it must be said that the calcite has been partially removed by mechanical procedures, without acids that could cause the silver to blacken. Well defined, extremely brilliant and isolated silver crystals are not very common, usually appear deformed or in complex growths. An excellent and good sized specimen (several photos attached).

RM1857   Talmessite with cobaltoan calcite

Agoudal, Bou Azzer, Ouarzazate, Drâa-Tafilalet, Morocco

Very curious globular aggregates formed by prismatic crystals that vary their composition according to the zone, although the XR diffraction study shows that it is talmessite, without discarding that in some parts of the aggregate a higher cobalt content is observed. These aggregates are disposed on a matrix of cobaltoan calcite, together with manganese oxides. Very interesting.
