Topaz crystal aesthetically disposed on a rhyolite matrix. It shows several faces very well defined, with an excellent transparency and a uniform tone. From a classic locality.

Very esthetic aggregates of tabular tyuyamunite crystals. Very bright, intense yellow greenish color and contrasting with the matrix. A very representative specimen for the species.

RM1711   Variscita

Little Green Monster Variscite Mine, Clay Canyon, Fairfield, Oquirrh Mts, Utah, United States

A really aesthetic green variscite specimen from the occurrence at Clay Canyon. The polished specimen hosts a whitish crandallite. Variscite is known from dozens of localities around the world, but the specimens from Utah are amongst the better pieces from the United States. The species is named for the German district of Variscia, which was the medieval name for modern-day Vögtland.

RM890   Topaz on Rhyolite

The Cove (Topaz Valley), Thomas Range, Juab Co., Utah, United States

A huge size topaz crystal well disposed on the rhyolite matrix. It shows well defined faces and edges, excellent transparency and uniform toasted honey tone. It shows natural cleavage planes. A gem from a classic locality.


Size: 7.7 x 6.5 x 5.8 cm.
Main crystal: 38 x 8 mm.

 

RM805   Bixbyite

Topaz Mountain, Thomas Range, Juab, Utah, United States

A brilliant and very sharp bixbyite crystal. A manganese oxyde well-known and appreciated by collector for its rich crystallographic forms. In this specimen we can see the cubic main form with vertex truncated by trapezohedron and a small triangular octahedron face. A crystallographic pleasure... Very aesthetically disposed on a volcanic rocky matrix. With an old display label.
