RM2838 Bournonite, pyrite, sphalerite and quartz
Quiruvilca Mine, Quiruvilca, Santiago de Chuco, La Libertad, PerúGroup of cyclically twinned bournonite crystals, with a metallic gray color, interpenetrating each other. They are disposed on a matrix of very brilliant octahedral pyrite, partially covered by complex sphalerite crystals.

RM2841 Pyrite, sphalerite and crandallite
Quiruvilca Mine, Quiruvilca, Santiago de Chuco, La Libertad, PerúGroup of octahedral pyrite crystals, very brilliant and well defined, which are accompanied by complex crystals of sphalerite. On them we observed numerous white globular crandallite aggregates (analyzed by XRD). This combination of minerals is unusual in the deposit, with this phosphate being the first citation.

On them we observed numerous white globular crandallite aggregates (analyzed by XRD). This combination of minerals is unusual in the deposit, with this phosphate being the first citation.

One with an intense orange color, formed by numerous brilliant crystals. A second generation formed by crystals that cover the arsenopyrite-pyrite matrix, with a darker tone. A different sample from this classic Peruvian mine.

RM1458 Hutchinsonite with quartz and pyrite
Quiruvilca Mine, Quiruvilca, Santiago de Chuco, La Libertad, PerúHutchinsonite is one of the few thallium-containing minerals producing good sized crystals. This specimen shows numerous groups of prismatic crystals of this rare sulphosalt, some are doubly terminated, sheaves or isolated, interpenetrated... With an exceptional luster and reddish reflections. They are disposed on a pyrite matrix with rosettes of small quartz crystals. An exceptional specimen.

They are accompanied by brilliant acicular crystals of realgar with deep red color, transparent and defined. It is accompanied by barite crystals, pyrite and pyrrhotite. A different and quality specimen for this classic Peruvian mine.

They show faces of the positive and negative tetrahedron, very sharp and rich in faces. Some of them are coated with a thin golden patina of chalcopyrite, a very aesthetic rarity. They are accompanied by bright calcite that partially cover with a geometrical disposition. A specimen of great aesthetic and interesting by the size of its crystals.

RM838 Tetrahedrite with sphalerite
Mundo Nuevo mine, Labor Jaqui, Huamachuco, Sánchez Carrión, La Libertad, PerúA very rich group of tetrahedrite crystals with an intense metallic luster and deep black color, with well defined faces and edges. Faces show complex growth and some vertices are truncated by opposite tetrahedron faces. They are accompanied by groups of sphalerite crystals, complex forms, easily distinguished by its grayish dull sheen. Highlight the intense orange fluorescence of this sphalerite probably due to the presence of cadmium in its crystal lattice. From the Jaqui adit, a diferent locality not well represented in collections.
