RM2805   Quartz with Halloysite inclusions, "mango quartz"

Cabiche mine, Cabiche, Quípama, Boyacá, Colombia

Quartz specimens from this Colombian mine, located in the Boyacá emerald mining area, have been well known since the end of the last century. By 2017, new galleries were opened those located different geodes. These crystals, called "mango quartz" or "crown quartz" were found in them, with inclusions that, after being recently analyzed, were determined as halloysite. The inclusions show filamentous structures and the tips of the crystals turn to orange tones. On our website we have already sold some samples with these inclusions on sale, without the orange coloration. Really aesthetic and on a matrix with goethitized dolomite-siderite.

Size: 5 x 4 x 2.6 cm.
Main crystal: 4.2 cm.
Found in 2018.

RM1067   Quartz with inclusions

Vasquez-Yacopí, Boyacá, Colombia

Large group of prismatic quartz crystals showing well developed prism with brilliance and excellent transparency. Some of them have unknown filamentous inclusions those give further mineralogical interest to this specimen. From a known mining area, but these specimens are not well represented in collections.

Size: 8.3 x 5.5 x 5.5 cm.
Main crystal: 30 x 4 mm.
Found in ca. 2009.

RM920   Emerald Beryl with calcite

Coscuez mine, Muzo, Vasquez-Yacopí, Boyacá, Colombia

A very sharp emerald crystal "trapped" between calcite crystals. The color, transparence and brilliance of these crystal are more than excellent. It shows a very defined prism, with a perfect top pinacoidal face and hints faces of the dipyramid, observed between the prism and the pinacoid. Some interesting color zoning can be observed in its lower part. A true gemmy miniature.

Size: 3,5 x 3,0 x 3,0 cm.
Main crystal: 11 x 5 mm.

RM921   Emerald Beryl with calcite

Coscuez mine, Muzo, Vasquez-Yacopí, Boyacá, Colombia

A gemmy emerald crystal with an intense color, disposed very aerial on a matrix with calcite and small crystals of the same mineral. It shows a developed prism, with curious growths on faces, and a terminal pinacoid showing natural corrosion forms and a small dent, which does not affect its aesthetics. Good transparence and brilliance. Good choice with an excellent price.

Size: 4,5 x 4,5 x 2,4 cm.
Main crystal: 11 x 7 mm.

RM438   Quartz with inclusions and limonite

Vasquez-Yacopí (area minera), Boyacá, Colombia

A very rich group of quartz crystals, some of them doubly terminated, with well defined faces and edges. Interesting elongated prism and terminal faces. We would like to emphisize the delicate filamentous inclusions that can be seen inside through transparency.
These inclusions are of unknown composition, but probably due to fluid inclusions originated during the crystal growth. They are accompanied by curious hemispherical aggregates of goethite-limonite, with a intense orange color, formed after the quartz crystals. From a known mining area, but these specimens are not well represented in collections.

Size: 8,2 x 7,2 x 5,5 cm.
Main crystal: 38 x 9 mm.
Found in 2009
