RM1447   Baryte

La Romana mine, Sierra Almagrera, Cuevas del Almanzora, Almería, Andalucía, Spain

Near to a floater, this specimen shows tabular crystals of baryte in parallel growth, in book-shape, very brilliant, transparent and richly faceted. Between colorless to slightly gray due to inclusions. It comes from a locality that is rarely represented in collections (also in Spanish ones).


Size: 5.7 x 5.0 x 2.8 cm.
Main crystal: 37 x 32 mm.

 

RM861   Siderite

Arteal Tunnel, Sierra Almagrera, Cuevas del Almanzora, Almería, Andalucía, Spain

A very rich group of siderite crystals from an extinct locality such as Arteal Tunnel. It occurs as aggregates of lenticular crystals with parallel growths, very bright and deep brown color. With a second siderite generation of small sharp crystals. In fresh fracture green color siderite is observed.


Size: 6.7 x 4.8 x 3.5 cm.
Main crystal: 24 x 18 mm.

A very rich group of siderite crystals from an extinct locality such as Arteal Tunnel. It occurs as aggregates of lenticular crystals with parallel growths, very bright and deep brown color. In fresh fracture green color siderite is observed. Very aesthetic.

Main crystal: 16 x 10 mm.
