RM683   Native copper with malachite and cuprite

Mufulira Mine, Mufulira, Copperbelt, Zambia

A huge size and old native copper specimen showing arborescent growths of deformated copper crystals. Also accompanied by malachite and some reddish cuprite. From a mine not well represented in collections.


Size: 10,8 x 7,5 x 4,0 cm.
Found in 1974-1976.

 

RM654   Native Copper with malachite

Mufulira Mine, Mufulira, Copperbelt, Zambia

An aesthetic arborescent copper specimen with several defined crystals, with good brilliance an colour. Accompanied by malachite and some quartz. From a lesser-known Zambian copper-cobalt mine. A specimen from past times.


Size: 5,4 x 3,4 x 1,5 cm.
Main crystal: 7 x 6 mm. (aggreg)
Found in ca. 1974-1976.

 

RM204   Hopeite with parahopeite

Kabwe mine (Broken Hill), Kabwe, Central province, Zambia

Hopeite and parahopeite are rare hydrated zinc phosphates, with the very best specimens worldwide coming from the famous Broken Hill Mine of Zambia. This specimen shows prismatic crystals of hopeite with brown color, some of them partially covered by colorless small parahopeite crystals. Broken Hill is the Type Locality for parahopeite. Rare species for systematic collector.


Size: 7,3 x 5,7 x 3,2 cm.
Main crystal: 7 x 3 mm.
Found in 1970's
