RM780   Beryl (var. aquamarine) with smoky quartz, schorl and feldspar

Erongo Mts., Erongo, Namibia

Exceptional specimen of beryl, variety aquamarine, very aerial disposed on a matrix rich in developed smoky quartz crystals. Beryl shows very good transparency and blue color. Accompanied by another beryl doubly terminated in smoky quartz. Also with black schorl crystals and feldspar. The crystal has a small dent, but a very aesthetic piece.


Size: 9,5 x 9,0 x 3,7 cm.
Main crystal: 19 x 8 mm.

 

RM1512   Fluorite with quartz

Erongo Mts., Erongo, Namibia

Group of cubic crystals of fluorite, with colors between green and violet. In a matrix with white quartz crystals. It presents some damage, but without affecting aesthetics.


Size: 8.5 x 5.5 x 4.2 cm.
Main crystal: 29 x 28 mm.
Found in 2007.

A scepter quartz crystal with smoky tones, transparence and brilliance. With window growths on rhombohedral faces. Very aesthetic.

RM1577   Twinned cerussite

Tsumeb mine (Tsumcorp), Tsumeb, Otjikoto, Namibia

Excellent growth of cyclic twins of cerussite, with very sharp crystals and well defined faces and edges, transparent to translucent, really brilliant... A very good classic with a notable quality and coming from past 60's of the XXth. Not easy to find nowadays.

RM1720   Copper with calcite and cuprite

Tsumeb mine (Tsumcorp), Tsumeb, Otjikoto, Namibia

Incredible specimen formed by a native copper matrix, covered by calcite white rhombohedrons, very well defined and translucent. They are accompanied by numerous crystals of up to 2 mm of cuprite: exceptional under the magnifying glass. Most show the forms of the dodecahedron, but also in octahedra. A remarkable example of this classic mine.

RM707   Native copper

Tsumeb mine (Tsumcorp), Tsumeb, Otjikoto, Namibia

Specimen of native copper from this classic Namibian mine. It shows a very aesthetic growth between arborescent to skeletal, with elongated copper crystals. A pleasure under magnification. The copper color is natural, without chemical treatments. An old sample of a well-known and appreciated by collectors locality as it is Tsumeb.

RM1714   Malachite with calcite

An interesting and showy Tsumeb specimen, puffball of lustrous primary malachite acicular crystals, nicely disposed on matrix covered with very glassy, colorless, calcite rhombohedral crystals.

RM1621   Mottramite

Tsumeb mine (Tsumcorp), Tsumeb, Otjikoto, Namibia

A specimen from this classic locality of the world mineralogy totally different from the seen. It is an old piece of a German collection, made up of an array full of green mottramite nodules. One of its faces has been cut allowing to observe the aesthetic aggregates of intense green tone that remember leaves. He analyzed the sample and shows the presence of a certain percentage of As.The results are sent to the buyer. Something very different from Tsumeb ...

Group of very sharp and well defined rhombohedral crystals of smithsonite. With an nice luster, transparent to translucent and a nice pink color. On a matrix with pyrite. Aesthetic specimen from Tsumeb.

RM689   Tennantite with quartz

Tsumeb mine (Tsumcorp), Tsumeb, Otjikoto, Namibia

A very rich tennantite specimen from the collector and dealer Luis "Louie" Antonio Bravi Teixeira Leite (1942-1999). It is formed by several interpenetrated tetrahedrons with good luster and defined faces and edges. Good sample to enjoy crystallography. A classic from a former collection.

RM697   Tennantite with quartz and dolomite

Tsumeb mine (Tsumcorp), Tsumeb, Otjikoto, Namibia

A tennantite rich specimen from the classic Tsumeb. We can observe some tetrahedron tennantite crystals with curved faces and defined edges, with luster. Some of them show broken areas, but aesthetics is quite good. Old specimen.

RM452   Tsumcorite with duftite and mimetite

Tsumeb mine (Tsumcorp), Tsumeb, Otjikoto, Namibia

Tsumcorite is a rare lead, zinc and iron arsenate, with Type Locality in Tsumcorp mine (abbreviation of Tsumeb Corporation). This company worked this copper mine during many years, in the Tsumeb mining area. This specimen is very rich in intense orange-brown small crystals of tsumcorite. We can observe platy lanceolated tabular crystals. They are accompanied by mimetite globular aggregates partially covered by brilliant deep green duftite crystals. Huge size, great specimen and rare mineral, all combined. This specimen has been analyzed.

RM1710   Wulfenite with duftite and malachite

Tsumeb mine (Tsumcorp), Tsumeb, Otjikoto, Namibia

Vuggy specimen with many cavities lined with sharp tabular wulfenite crystals. They are transparent to translucent, orange to yellow color, with green duftite throughout and malachite globular aggregates. The wulfenite crystals are coated on a druse of white calcite rhombohedral crystals. The crystals are undamaged. Very different than usual.

RM530   Twinned cerussite

Tsumeb (Tsumcorp) mine, Tsumeb, Otjikoto region, Namibia

A classic from Tsumeb mines. It shows a group of very sharp cerussite crystals forming this aesthetic cyclic twinned rosette. Excellent brilliance, good transparency and color from yellow to grayish tones, according to the light striking them. They are aerial disposed on the matrix and accompanied by other small cerussite crystals. It is unusual to get these twins on matrix.


Size: 6,5 x 5,4 x 4,5 cm.
Main crystal: 3,0 x 2,5 x 1,5 cm. (aggr)

 

RM1455   Boltwoodite with calcite

Goanikontes Claim, Goanikontes, Swakopmund, Erongo, Namibia

A elongated vug lined with small calcite crystals on which are scatterd some radial clusters of acicular yellow to orange crystals of boltwoodite. This specimen is labeled as Rössing mine but during many years excellent boltwoodite samples were labeled as "Rössing" and thus confused with the Rössing Uranium mine in the area (which never produced any boltwoodite specimens). The correct locality is Goanikontes, a uranium claim 4 km SE of Goanikontes and 27 km E of Swakopmund, at a distance of 40 km from the Rössing Uranium Mine.

RM1628   Tarbuttite

Skorpion Mine, Rosh Pinah, Lüderitz, Karas, Namibia

Vug in the rocky matrix totally covered by numerous tabular crystals of tarbuttite, forming parallel aggregates of green apple color. These tarbuttite crystals from the Skorpion mine can be considered among the best in the world.

RM1629   Tarbuttite with hemimorphite, fluorapatite

Skorpion Mine, Rosh Pinah, Lüderitz, Karas, Namibia

Aesthetic tarbuttite specimen formed by numerous tabular crystals, forming parallel aggregates of green apple color. These tarbuttite crystals from the Skorpion mine can be considered among the best in the world. They are partially covered with tiny crystals of fluorapatite, rich in Zn, but without becoming skorpionite. To my understanding many specimens of this deposit labeled as skorpionite are scholzite and/or fluorapatite rich in Zn. We will send analysis to the buyer. It is accompanied by lanceolate crystals of hemimorphite. Good sized specimen.

RM1102   Cerussite

Tsumeb (Tsumcorp) mine, Tsumeb, Otjikoto, Namibia

A group of cerussite crystals from this classic mine. It is a very interesting specimen because one of the crystals shows a very unusual number of faces. It is transparent, brilliant and with tabular shape. Color is slightly yellowish and with inclusions. With some ciclic twins. Good one. From the collector and dealer Luis "Louie" Antonio Bravi Teixeira Leite (1942-1999).

RM753   Twinned cerussite

Group of very sharp cerussite crystals presenting an interesting displaced cyclic twin. The piece, with good size, is a floater, translucent and with an excellent luster. It is very rich in faces and very aesthetic. It comes from the classic Tsumeb mine. With labels from former collections.

RM1101   Twinned cerussite with malachite

Tsumeb (Tsumcorp) mine, Tsumeb, Otjikoto, Namibia

An exceptional specimen. It shows a well-formed cyclic twin of cerussite crystals, well defined, bright, colorless and transparent. They are disposed very aerial on a matrix with malachite and some other crystals of the same species, also twinned but in "V" shape. A full aesthetic specimen of this very appreciated mine.

RM1437   Leiteite

Tsumeb (Tsumcorp) mine, Nivel-Level 44, Tsumeb, Otjikoto, Namibia

Leiteite is a very interesting zinc arsenate, one of the preciated rare species for Tsumeb Mine, which is the type locality. This is a elongated foliated to fibrous with pearlescent sample, with some transparence to translucent. This specimen was collected early 80s on mine level 44. A superb and really large specimen of this very rare mineral.

Berg Aukas Mine, Grootfontein, Otjozondjupa, Namibia

Aesthetic group of several descloizite crystals. Every one of these group of crystals is a group of little crystals of slightly curved edges, a typical shape in the classic samples from Namibia. Intense brilliance a deep color. From this former Sapnish collection.
