RM2189 Epidote and quartz
Los Serranos quarry, Fondó dels Frares, Albatera, Alacant, Valencia, SpainVery aesthetic group of deep green epidote fan-shaped aggregates on matrix. Epidotes have a good luster and intense green colour. There are some gemmy quartz crystals emerging from the epidote. The original label we will send to the buyer indicates that those crystals are clinozoisite, but recent studies show that all the analyzed specimens are epidote (Calvo, M., Subías, I. (2017): Epidote (not clinozoisite) and andradite garnet from Los Serranos quarry, Cabezo Negro, Albatera, Alicante. Mineral Up, 4:44-47).

RM1877 Digenite pseudomorph after pyrite
Sellent river, Chella, Valencia, Spainhese specimens are showing a complete pseudomorph of digenite (trigonal, Cu9S5) after pyrite (cubic, FeS2). We can see that crystals preserve the original cubic shape, with slightly curved edges and faces partially covered with greenish-colored malachite. A Spanish curiosity for pseudomorph lovers. We will send analysis to the buyer.

RM1190 Strontianite with limonite
Oriolana mine, Busot, Alicante, Valencia, SpainGroup of strontianite crystals with an elongated pyramidal habit, forming bundles and aggregates, with color between white to colorless. These specimens appeared in a concrete area of the mine Oriolana (Busot, Alicante) and initially were identified as aragonite or calcite. Further analysis indicated that this was strontianite with some calcium. It indicates that the crystals are zoned and its composition varies within the crystal. They were determined strontianita (majority), celestite, calcite with some quartz (probably due to mechanical mixtures).
Size: 7.2 x 5.5 x 4.5 cm.
Main crystal: 4 mm.
Found in 2011.
