RM1577   Twinned cerussite

Tsumeb mine (Tsumcorp), Tsumeb, Otjikoto, Namibia

Excellent growth of cyclic twins of cerussite, with very sharp crystals and well defined faces and edges, transparent to translucent, really brilliant... A very good classic with a notable quality and coming from past 60's of the XXth. Not easy to find nowadays.

Size: 6.4 x 5.5 x 4.6 cm.
Found in ±1960

RM1720   Copper with calcite and cuprite

Tsumeb mine (Tsumcorp), Tsumeb, Otjikoto, Namibia

Incredible specimen formed by a native copper matrix, covered by calcite white rhombohedrons, very well defined and translucent. They are accompanied by numerous crystals of up to 2 mm of cuprite: exceptional under the magnifying glass. Most show the forms of the dodecahedron, but also in octahedra. A remarkable example of this classic mine.

Size: 6.6 x 4.4 x 1.1 cm.

Col. J.M. Manchion (Barcelona) - No.337 (Mineralexpo Sants,1987)

RM707   Native copper

Tsumeb mine (Tsumcorp), Tsumeb, Otjikoto, Namibia

Specimen of native copper from this classic Namibian mine. It shows a very aesthetic growth between arborescent to skeletal, with elongated copper crystals. A pleasure under magnification. The copper color is natural, without chemical treatments. An old sample of a well-known and appreciated by collectors locality as it is Tsumeb.

Size: 7,7 x 5,2 x 3,2 cm.
Found in ca 1980's.

RM1714   Malachite with calcite

Tsumeb mine (Tsumcorp), Tsumeb, Otjikoto, Namibia

An interesting and showy Tsumeb specimen, puffball of lustrous primary malachite acicular crystals, nicely disposed on matrix covered with very glassy, colorless, calcite rhombohedral crystals.

Size: 7.5 x 5.2 x 4.7 cm.

RM1621   Mottramite

Tsumeb mine (Tsumcorp), Tsumeb, Otjikoto, Namibia

A specimen from this classic locality of the world mineralogy totally different from the seen. It is an old piece of a German collection, made up of an array full of green mottramite nodules. One of its faces has been cut allowing to observe the aesthetic aggregates of intense green tone that remember leaves. He analyzed the sample and shows the presence of a certain percentage of As.The results are sent to the buyer. Something very different from Tsumeb ...

Size: 8.7 x 8.5 x 6.5 cm.

RM1526   Smithsonite

Tsumeb mine (Tsumcorp), Tsumeb, Otjikoto, Namibia

Group of very sharp and well defined rhombohedral crystals of smithsonite. With an nice luster, transparent to translucent and a nice pink color. On a matrix with pyrite. Aesthetic specimen from Tsumeb.

Size: 6.0 x 5.4 x 3.5 cm.
Main crystal: 7 x 4 mm.

RM689   Tennantite with quartz

Tsumeb mine (Tsumcorp), Tsumeb, Otjikoto, Namibia

A very rich tennantite specimen from the collector and dealer Luis "Louie" Antonio Bravi Teixeira Leite (1942-1999). It is formed by several interpenetrated tetrahedrons with good luster and defined faces and edges. Good sample to enjoy crystallography. A classic from a former collection.

Size: 8,3 x 6,0 x 5,0 cm.
Main crystal: 22 x 20 mm.
Found in ca. 1980's.

Ex-coll. Luis Leite.

RM697   Tennantite with quartz and dolomite

Tsumeb mine (Tsumcorp), Tsumeb, Otjikoto, Namibia

A tennantite rich specimen from the classic Tsumeb. We can observe some tetrahedron tennantite crystals with curved faces and defined edges, with luster. Some of them show broken areas, but aesthetics is quite good. Old specimen.

Size: 7,7 x 4,8 x 4,7 cm.
Main crystal: 18 x 17 mm.
Found in 1970's.

RM452   Tsumcorite with duftite and mimetite

Tsumeb mine (Tsumcorp), Tsumeb, Otjikoto, Namibia

Tsumcorite is a rare lead, zinc and iron arsenate, with Type Locality in Tsumcorp mine (abbreviation of Tsumeb Corporation). This company worked this copper mine during many years, in the Tsumeb mining area. This specimen is very rich in intense orange-brown small crystals of tsumcorite. We can observe platy lanceolated tabular crystals. They are accompanied by mimetite globular aggregates partially covered by brilliant deep green duftite crystals. Huge size, great specimen and rare mineral, all combined. This specimen has been analyzed.

Size: 7,3 x 6,6 x 6,4 cm.

RM1710   Wulfenite with duftite and malachite

Tsumeb mine (Tsumcorp), Tsumeb, Otjikoto, Namibia

Vuggy specimen with many cavities lined with sharp tabular wulfenite crystals. They are transparent to translucent, orange to yellow color, with green duftite throughout and malachite globular aggregates. The wulfenite crystals are coated on a druse of white calcite rhombohedral crystals. The crystals are undamaged. Very different than usual.
