RM2513   Calcite, galena, sphalerite and dolomite

Sweetwater Mine, F-5 Area, Ellington, Reynolds Co., Missouri, United States of America

Calcite gemmy crystal from this classic North American locality, very transparent, bright and with a delicate yellow color. It is disposed very aerially on a matrix with galena, sphalerite, dolomite and pyrite. It is also crystallographically very interesting because of the shapes of the elongated rhombohedron, with the faces of the scalenohedron. Acquired by J. Astor from J. Montal in the mid-1970s, with labels.

Size: 3.8 x 3.5 x 2.4 cm.
Main crystal: 2.1 cm.
Found in ca. 1976.

Col. Joan Astor (Barcelona).
Fluorescent under long wave UV

RM1446   Twinned galena with dolomite

Fletcher Mine (Big Bear orebody), Centerville, Viburnum Trend District, Reynolds Co., Missouri, United States of America

In this fine quality specimen we can observe several groups of galena crystals of good size, with defined faces and edges, and cube and octahedron faces. Very, very brilliant and disposed very aerial on the matrix. They are accompanied by another galena group showing the spinel twin and a pseudohexagonal shape. Partially covered by dolomite rhombohedrons. An aesthetic specimen that combines cubic crystals and twin. Amazing...

Size: 6.0 x 5.5 x 3.8 cm.
Main crystal: 23 x 18 mm. 20 x 15 mm twin.

RM863   Calcite with dolomite and chalcopyrite

They are translucent and have a delicate yellow color. With small rhombohedral crystals of dolomite, peppered by microcrystals of chalcopyrite.

Size: 9.2 x 5.8 x 3.8 cm.
Main crystal: 7.2 x 2.5 cm.
