RM786   Copper with azurite and malachite

Oumjrane mines, Alnif, Er Rachidia, Meknès-Tafilalet, Morocco

A very curious copper specimen pseudomorphed by secondary copper minerals such as malachite and azurite. In this sample we can find a layer of small but brilliant azurite crystals and larger ones very well defined and isolated. Accompanied by small quartz crystals. A piece to enjoy under the magnifying glass.

Size: 6,5 x 4,5 x 3,0 cm.
Found in 2008.

RM1669   native copper

Oumjrane mines, Alnif, Er Rachidia, Meknès-Tafilalet, Morocco

Exceptional native copper specimen from this classic Moroccan locality. This piece stands out for the feather formed by elongated crystals. It is accompanied by numerous crystals with deformed and complex cubic habit. A very aerial and aesthetic specimen.

Size: 4.3 x 2.5 x 2.0 cm.
Main crystal: 30 x 6 mm. pluma

RM1788   Malachite with azurite and limonite

Oumjrane mines, Alnif, Er Rachidia, Meknès-Tafilalet, Morocco

Aesthetic group of elongated, fan-shaped and very well defined prismatic crystals of malachite, it would seem to be primary but in my opinion it is a total pseudomorphic substitution after azurite crystals. Accompanied by a azurite brilliant crystal. The brightness is excellent, intense green color, forming divergent aggregates. They are disposed filling cavities of the goethite matrix (limonite). Excellent specimens rarely seen in collections.

Size: 6.0 x 5.0 x 4.7 cm.
Main crystal: 10 x 2 mm.
Found in 02/2018

RM1791   Malachite on limonite

Aesthetic group of elongated, fan-shaped and very well defined prismatic crystals of malachite, it would seem to be primary but in my opinion it is a total pseudomorphic substitution after azurite crystals. Accompanied by a azurite brilliant crystal. The brightness is excellent, intense green color, forming divergent aggregates. They are disposed filling cavities of the goethite matrix (limonite). Excellent specimens rarely seen in collections.

Size: 5.8 x 5.5 x 5.0 cm.
Main crystal: 18 x 1 mm.

RM1789   Malachite with limonite

Oumjrane mines, Alnif, Er Rachidia, Meknès-Tafilalet, Morocco

Very rich group of pseudorhombohedral and interpenetrated crystals of malachite, very sharp. It would seem to be primary but in my opinion it is a total pseudomorphic substitution after azurite crystals. The brightness is good, intense green color, forming aesthetic aggregates. They are disposed into cavities of the goethite matrix (limonite) with quartz. Excellent specimens rarely seen in collections.

Size: 5.5 x 3.5 x 3.0 cm.
Main crystal: 8 x 6 mm.
Found in 02/2018

RM1787   Malachite on limonite

Oumjrane mines, Alnif, Er Rachidia, Meknès-Tafilalet, Morocco

The brightness is excellent, intense green color, forming divergent aggregates. They are disposed filling cavities of the goethite matrix (limonite). Excellent specimens rarely seen in collections.
