RM2581   Baryte with galena and sphalerite

Osor mines, Osor, Girona, Catalunya, Spain

Aggregates of brilliant and transparent baryte crystals, with a slightly yellow tone. They are accompanied by small crystals of sphalerite, with complex forms, and galena. It comes from the Mines d'Osor, currently closed and from which it is impossible to obtain these specimens. The mine closed in 1979 and had eleven levels, with a 290 meter deep shaft. You can still see the ruins of the old facilities and the well from which sphalerite, galena and fluorite were extracted and treated.

Main crystal: 7 mm.

RM2452   Siderite

Osor mines, Osor, Girona, Catalunya, Spain

Siderite rhombohedral crystals, flattened, bright and defined. They have a honeyed to golden colour, with a second generation of smaller crystals. They are disposed on a matrix. Siderite specimens from this Catalan mine are uncommon.


Size: 7.4 x 6.8 x 4.6 cm.
Main crystal: 0.9 cm.

RM1028   Baryte

This is a specimen of tabular barite crystals, colorless to yellowish tones and very good transparence. With minor marcassite on matrix. Stable till 1990's. These specimens are uncommon in the market. It comes from the former Daunis (Barcelona) collection. A piece with history.

Main crystal: 5 x 4 mm.

RM744   Baryte with galena

A piece with history. This is a specimen of elongated prismatic barite crystals with toasted honey tones and very good transparence. It shows very sharp prismatic and terminal faces. These specimens are uncommon in the market. It comes from the former Daunis (Barcelona) collection. Very representative.


Size: 7,0 x 4,5 x 4,0 cm.
Main crystal: 18 x 2 mm.
Found in ±1990.
