RM3142   Normandite

Partomchorr Mt., Khibiny Massif, Murmanskaja Oblast', Northern Region, Russia

Radial aggregates of normandite, of intense orange color and with transparency. They are disposed in a matrix with aegirine/augite and analcime. Under LW-UV light the white matrix shows some fluorescence with intense orange spots. From the alkaline pegmatites of the Kola peninsula.

Size: 5.8 x 3.6 x 2.3 cm.

RM2440   Wadeite and aegirine

Kukisvumchorr Mt, Kola Peninsula, Khibiny Massif, Murmanskaja Oblast', Northern Region, Russia

Excellent specimen of this rare potassium and zirconium silicate. It shows rich aggregates of hexagonal crystals, transparent to translucent, with an excellent brilliance. Colourless to slightly violet. They are disposed on a matrix of acicular aegirine crystals with a very dark green color, almost black. The Kukisvumchorr Mountains are in the central part of the Khibiny Massif. The area has a very interesting mineralogy, notable for its nepheline syenites.

Size: 4.2 x 3.5 x 2.8 cm.
Main crystal: 3 mm.

RM1730   Lorenzenite

Umbozero mine, Shomiokitovoe pegmatite, Alluaiv Mt, Lovozero, Murmanskaya Oblast', Northern Region, Russia

It is not very common to find specimens of lorenzenite, a rare sodium silicate titanate, of these Russian pegmatites. The piece shows some crystals with defined faces and edges, intense black and brilliance, some doubly ternminated. Very interesting specimen collected in this large agpaitic pegmatite body discovered in 1996 on the northern flank of the Umbozero mine on Alluaiv Mt. Intensely hydrothermally reworked, extremely Na-rich, CO2-rich and relatively Si-rich pegmatite. We will send analysis to the buyer.

Size: 4.6 x 4.0 x 3.6 cm.
Main crystal: 10 x 7 mm.

Analyzed specimen with report

RM1474   Normandite with aegirine and analcime

Partomchorr Mt., Khibiny Massif, Murmanskaja Oblast', Northern Region, Russia

Radial aggregates of normandite, of intense orange color and with transparency. They are disposed in a matrix with aegirine and analcime. Under LW-UV light the white matrix shows some fluorescence with intense orange spots. From the alkaline pegmatites of the Kola peninsula.

Size: 6.5 x 4.5 x 3.0 cm.
Main crystal: 20 mm. aggreg.

Fluorescent under long wave UV

RM1432   Delhayelite

Yukspor Mt, Kola Peninsula, Khibiny Massif, Murmanskaja Oblast', Northern Region, Russia

Delhayelite is a rare phyllosilicate from the Khibiny massif, in the heart of the Kola peninsula. This area is well known for the large number of alkaline pegmatites that have contributed to the mineralogy a large number of new species. This specimen shows the classical form of the fibrous to laminar shape, with brilliance and a very intense orange fluorescence under the long-wave UV light, characteristic of the specimens of Khibiny. A mineral rarity.

Size: 4.0 x 2.8 x 1.5 cm.

Fluorescent under long wave UV
