RM1037   Twinned cerusite with barite and galena

Mine des O, Mine des O, Khénifra, Meknès-Tafilet, Morocco

In this huge size specimen we observe groups of tabular lenticular aggregates of barite with a delicate reddish tones, along with gray galena that has been almost completely substituted and covered by nice cerussite crystals. Taking a look under the microscope, cerussite shows long striated prisms terminated by pyramidal faces. Also note several cyclic star twins, well defined and spectacular. Different specimens from Mibladen.

The large mine of Les O is mined under the town of Mibladen. It has been worked during generations of miners in search of specimens, usually galena cerussite, barite and some wulfenite. Few weeks before my visit in February 2013 were found some mineralized veins and vugs with the specimens we offer. When those cavities were formed they had been filled by cube octahedral crystals of galena and barite. Due to the hydrothermal fluids galena was partially or totally corroded to favor the formation of cerussite.

RM2045   Azurite with malachite and limonite

Bou Bekker, Touissit, Jerada, Oriental Region, Morocco

Very brilliant aggregates of azurite crystals, well defined and with the characteristic deep blue color. On an altered chalcopyrite matrix partially covered by a layer of velvety malachite. An good size and old specimen from this Catalan collection.

RM1999   Azurite and Malachite

Bou Bekker, Touissit, Jerada, Oriental Region, Morocco

A nice azurite miniature, with good brightness, intense color and sprinkled with malachite rosettes. An aesthetic old piece from this classic Moroccan locality.

RM1010   Malachite after azurite

Bou Bekker, Touissit, Jerada, Oriental Region, Morocco

A rich group of azurite crystals partially replaced by malachite. Azurite crystals show tabular and lenticular shape forming rosettes, with an intense blue color. Malachite shows the shapes of the crystals of azurite those has been partially replaced and fibrous to acicular crystals with a delicate velvety aspect very aesthetic.

RM1997   Anglesite with galena

Touissit, Touissit-Bou Beker, Jerada, Oriental Region, Morocco

Aesthetic group of sharp anglesite crystals, very brilliant, transparent and richly faceted. They are disposed on a matrix of galena. An old specimen from the Manchion Collection, very luminous, from this classic Moroccan town.

RM1854   Atzurite

Touissit, Touissit-Bou Beker, Jerada, Oriental Region, Morocco

A prismatic crystal that just looks like the typical ones from Touissit, but a more detailed check shows the unusual richness of the termination, with lots of faces. Definition, brilliance, and color are the outstanding features of this sample. This azurite crystal, in the form of a broad spear point, exhibits electric blue highlights, lustre, and numerous step faces on both sides of the of the crystal. It is a magnificent crystal with only one minor ding/contact on one terminal face, otherwise, it is really aesthetic. A very old specimen, very difficult to get nowadays.

Aesthetic sample formed by sharp cerussite crystals, translucent, twinned, with a very good luster, slightly honey tone. They are disposed on a matrix with galena. From the Manchión collection.

RM1485   Malachite with quartz and calcite

Touissit, Touissit-Bou Beker, Jerada, Oriental Region, Morocco

Superb and brilliant specimen formed by botryoidal aggregates of malachite, of intense green color, and covered by small hyaline quartz crystals. Quartz gives it this aesthetic brilliance. Matrix is formed by a stockwork of altered chalcopyrite. Malachite specimens from this locality and with this shape are unusual.

RM1595   Arsenatian Vanadinite

Touissit, Touissit-Bou Beker, Jerada, Oriental Region, Morocco

Rich group of so called arsenatian vanadinite showing defined edges and curved faces, barrel-shaped and many of them doubly terminated, with the characteristic color of this variety. These samples appeared on the market in the late 1970s as pyromorphite, until they were correctly determined by XRD and SEM-EDS analysis. This specimen has been analyzed, just for info, showing As 3.3%weight and 9% in V. Old specimen, nowadays rare to find.

RM2083   Arsenatian Vanadinite

Touissit, Touissit-Bou Beker, Jerada, Oriental Region, Morocco

Rich group of so called arsenatian vanadinite showing defined edges and curved faces, barrel-shaped and many of them doubly terminated, with the characteristic color of this variety. These samples appeared on the market in the late 1970s as pyromorphite, until they were correctly determined by XRD and SEM-EDS analysis. This specimen has been analyzed, just for info, showing As 3%weight and 8.7% in V. Old specimen, nowadays rare to find.

RM1855   Wulfenite

Touissit, Touissit-Bou Beker, Jerada, Oriental Region, Morocco

In this specimen we can enjoy groups of tabular crystals showing well defined faces and parallel growths. They are interpenetrated between them and accompanied by small but perfect tabular wulfenite crystals. Some of them present small ding, very common in this samples, but this one is really good. The brilliance is good and in thin parts showing transparence. They are very aerial disposed on the matrix.

Rich group of wulfenite crystals, bright, slightly color from yellow to orange. Crystallized in both sides. Most are intact, something unusual in the specimens of this site. From the former collection of J.M. Manchion.

This specimen is full of brilliance, not easy to show with the camera. The Nador hematite specimens are well known but without matrix. In these specimens we can enjoy a rich group of crystals, with very defined faces and edges, brilliant and disposed very aerially on the rhyolite matrix. The specimens come from a small rhyolite quarry very close to the community of Nador, on the road to Melilla. These hematite have sometimes been erroneously labeled as "Ouichane" or "Jebel Ouichane", the locality for the blue baryte. Very diferent and aesthetic.

RM1007   Malachite after azurite

Puit IX, Pit No. 9, Touissit, Touissit District, Oujda-Angad Province, Oriental Regi, Touissit, Oujda-Angad, Oriental Region, Morocco

A huge size specimen of malachite that has completely replaced azurite former crystals, preserving its prismatic shape, with visible terminal faces. Malachite has an intense green color, with silky luster due to its acicular shape, fibrous. With a minor rocky matrix. An elegant specimen of a classic mine as Touissit.

RM1698   Talmessite with conichalcite and calcite

Aghbar Mine, Bou Azzer, Khénifra, Ouarzazate, Morocco

Rich specimen formed by several isolated crystals of talmessite, translucent to transparent, defined, from pink to orange. They are disposed on a matrix with bright calcite crystals and green crystalline aggregates of conichalcite. The sample has been analyzed by SEM-EDS and Raman. The results indicate a very low Co content and the Raman indicates that it is talmessite. We will send the buyer all the details.

RM1596   Gold, var. electrum

Taghouni mine, Taghouni, Bou Azer, Tazenakht, Ouarzazate, Morocco

A novelty in Sainte-Marie-aux-Mines (2017). These specimens show a matrix formed by associated sulphides and arsenates of cobalt and iron. We can observe on both the presence of arborescent, filiform and laminar gold aggregates. SEM analysis has shown that this is a variety of gold rich in silver (20-24%weight): electrum. Under the loupe we can enjoy that some of these aggregates are formed by small crystals of octahedral to cubic shape of the precious metal. We can think a secondary genesis for this gold electrum. We have analyzed these specimens observing that the brilliant metallic matrix corresponds to skutterudite and other sulphides-arsenides. We will send all analysis to the buyer. The gold and electrum in Bou Azer was already described, but the quality of these specimens we offer surpasses what was known. A very rich gold specimen, with good size and aesthetic.

Taghouni mine, Taghouni, Bou Azer, Tazenakht, Ouarzazate, Morocco

These specimens show a matrix formed by arsenates such as erythrite and associated sulphides and arsenates of cobalt and iron. We can observe on both the presence of arborescent, filiform and laminar gold aggregates. SEM analysis has shown that this is a variety of gold rich in silver (23-24%w): electrum.
Under loupe, we can enjoy that some of these gold aggregates are formed by small crystals of octahedral to cubic forms. We can theorize a secondary genesis for this gold-electrum. We have analyzed the matrix of these specimens observing that the bright metallic matrix corresponds to a mixture of cobalt arsenides, probably skutterudite, and other sulphides. We will send all analyzes to the buyer. The gold and electrum in Bou Azer was already described, but the quality of these specimens we offer surpasses what was known.
