RM1097   Gold with tetrahedrite, sphalerite, galena and chalcopyrite

Brusson mine, Brusson, Val d'Ayas, Val d'Aosta, Italy

A nice size and aesthetic specimen of gold from this classic Italian locality. Various aggregates of this golden metal with cubic forms, curved edges and faces with small wire growths, with small crystals of sphalerite and tetrahedrite. The luster is really excellent. In the matrix we can observe the presence of different sulphides (also galena). Very different from the usual, to be observed in detail. A specimen analyzed by SEM-EDS, the results will be sent to the buyer.

Size: 3.8 x 2.7 x 1.7 cm.

RM1096   Tinzenite with lindbergite and quartz

Molinello Mine, Val Graveglia, Ne, Genova, Liguria, Italy

Groups of orange rosettes of this rare species. Tinzenite is a boro/aluminosilicate of calcium and manganese from the axinite group [see here], and probably the best specimens are from this Italian mine. Also accompanied by white epimorphic crystals (after not determined species) of a rare Mn oxalate: lindbergite.

Size: 6.3 x 5.2 x 2.4 cm.
Found in 2011.

RM1024   Sursassite with quartz

Mina Molinello, Val Graveglia, Ne, Genova, LigurĂa, Italy

A very uncommon species. It is an aluminum manganese silicate found in few localities worldwide. Specimens from Molinello mine are the best known. In this sample we observe a vein of sursassite with a coppery brown color, formed by many needle like crystals. In the quartz vug we can see perfectly formed crystals. The analysis will be sent to the buyer. A very good opportunity.

Size: 7.4 x 3.7 x 3.2 cm.

Analyzed specimen with report

RM878   Native copper

Molinello mine, Ne, Genova, Liguria, Italy

Excellent native copper specimen from this Italian mine. A dendritic growth of small crystals of copper, with defined edges and complex faces. The color is very intense and its luster is more than remarkable. The locality is uncommon for native copper.

Size: 6.5 x 4.5 x 5.0 cm.

RM937   Tiragalloite

Molinello mine, Val Graveglia, Ne, Genova, Liguria, Italy

Tiragalloita is a rare manganese arsenosilicate found in very few localities. This specimen is from the type locality. In this sample we find a rich mineralized area showing some crystal faces. A systematic rarity. It has been analyzed and we will send a copy to the buyer.

Size: 6.0 x 4.0 x 3.4 cm.

RM924   Pyrite with hematite

Rio Marina, Isola d'Elba, Livorno, Toscana, Italy

A huge size specimen formed by a large group of brilliant pentadodecahedron pyrite crystals. With an excellent luster, gold color and very well defined faces and edges. On a solid matrix of hematite crystals. A specimen for the best display.

Size: 10,5 x 10,0 x 6,5 cm.
Main crystal: 36 x 32 mm.

RM743   Sulfur on Carrara marble with dolomite

Cava Colonnata, Alpi Apuane, Carrara, Massa-Carrara, Toscana, Italy

Sulfur crystals from the marble quarries of Carrara are appreciated worldwide for its gem quality. In this specimen, we offer a sulphur crystal perfectly disposed on the marble matrix. This crystal is very rich in complex well-defined rhombic faces. It is uncommon because they appears usually rounded. The brilliance and transparence are incredible. The color is intensely yellow, very characteristic of these Carrara sulfur specimens. An exceptional and definitive displaying sample, very rare on market, considering that in last years it has been found only few specimens of this size and quality. A great opportunity.

Size: 12,3 x 8,0 x 5,0 cm.
Main crystal: 8 x 7 mm.
Found in 2001.

RM739   Cerussite with Galena

Monteponi, Iglesias, Carbonia-Iglesias, Sardegna, Italy

This specimen is from a former Italian collection of early last century, G. d'Anna. It is known that a so called Giusseppe d'Anna of Telve was a military hero of World War I (see minrec). Also accompanying label store minerals Freiberg Mining Academy (more info). This fact and quality make this sample very special. The piece presents a prismatic crystal of cerussite embedded in a galena matrix. A very interesting and historic specimen.

Size: 5,0 x 4,3 x 3,8 cm.
Main crystal: 14 x12 mm.

Ex-col. G d'Anna (Italia) and Mining Academy Freiberg.
Fluorescent under long wave UV

RM691   Sulphur on Carrara marble with dolomite

Cava Colonnata, Alpi Apuane, Carrara, Massa-Carrara, Toscana, Italy

This crystal is very rich in complex well-defined rhombic faces. It is uncommon because they appears usually rounded. The brilliance and transparence are incredible. The color is intensely yellow, very characteristic of these Carrara sulphurs. An exceptional and definitive displaying sample, very rare on market, considering that in last years it has been found only few specimens of this size and quality. A great opportunity.
