RM1494   Vanadinite with coronadite, mottramite and goethite

Mine Four man, Taouz, Er Rachidia, Meknès-Tafilet, Morocco

Two generations of vanadinite crystals. A good-sized brilliant crystals, with echeloned growths and defined faces and edges. With good color yellow and peppered by deep black coronadite globular aggregates and covering the matrix. Another generation shows small crystals (<1 mm) but with a nice luster, transparence, and yellowish tone. Both are on goethite with mottramite crystals.

RM1037   Twinned cerusite with barite and galena

Mine des O, Mine des O, Khénifra, Meknès-Tafilet, Morocco

In this huge size specimen we observe groups of tabular lenticular aggregates of barite with a delicate reddish tones, along with gray galena that has been almost completely substituted and covered by nice cerussite crystals. Taking a look under the microscope, cerussite shows long striated prisms terminated by pyramidal faces. Also note several cyclic star twins, well defined and spectacular. Different specimens from Mibladen.

The large mine of Les O is mined under the town of Mibladen. It has been worked during generations of miners in search of specimens, usually galena cerussite, barite and some wulfenite. Few weeks before my visit in February 2013 were found some mineralized veins and vugs with the specimens we offer. When those cavities were formed they had been filled by cube octahedral crystals of galena and barite. Due to the hydrothermal fluids galena was partially or totally corroded to favor the formation of cerussite.

Size: 9.0 x 6.8 x 2.7 cm.
Main crystal: 7 x 4 mm.

RM363   Vanadinite with Coronadite and Goethite

Mine Four man, Taouz, Er Rachidia, Meknès-Tafilet, Morocco

Two generations of vanadinite crystals. A good-sized brilliant crystals, with echeloned growths and defined faces and edges. With good color yellow and peppered by deep black coronadite globular aggregates. Another generation shows small crystals (<1 mm) but with a nice luster, transparence, and yellowish tone. Both are on a matrix of goethite.

RM366   Vanadinite with Coronadite and Mottramite

Mine Four man, Taouz, Er Rachidia, Meknès-Tafilet, Morocco

In this excellent specimen we can observe different vanadinite crystals phases. The first is formed by botryoidal aggregates of small vanadinite crystals. Brilliant, translucent and with a yellow to greenish tones. On a second generation, we have huge size and brilliant crystals, with yellow to orange color, which show rounded faces and edges, one of them having a drop shape. One of the cavities of the goethite matrix is covered by very sharp and brilliant lanceolated prismatic crystals of mottramite. Also accompanied bybotryoidal coronadite. Novelty in SMM-2012.

Size: 9,5 x 5,2 x 4,0 cm.
Main crystal: 18 x 10 mm.

RM370   Vanadinite with Coronadite and Mottramite

Mine Four man, Taouz, Er Rachidia, Meknès-Tafilet, Morocco

A group of very curious yellowish vanadinite hexagonal crystals disposed on a layer of botryoidal coronadite acicular aggregates which are covering the goethite vugs. Accompanied by small but defined mottramite crystals forming clusters partially covering vanadinite crystals. They show a honey to brown color and dipyramidal faces and skeletal growths. A nice sample to be enjoyed on the display and under the microscope.

Size: 7,8 x 4,3 x 3,8 cm.
Main crystal: 6 x 5 mm.

RM341   Goethite-Hematite

Taouz, Er Rachidia, Meknès-Tafilet, Morocco

A very aesthetic group of stalactitic goethite-hematite growth showing a very aerial disposition from this classic Moroccan locality. We can observe reddish radiated growths in fractured stalactites on the matrix.

Size: 8,8 x 8,3 x 7,1 cm.
