A very brilliant crystallized primary malachite. The prismatic needle like crystals present diverging and fan-shaped groups and have an excellent luster. Good transparence. Color is very intense and characteristic with some zoning. A very representative specimen and from a classic Katanga mining area.


Size: 7,0 x 5,4 x 4,6 cm.
Main crystal: 18 mm.
Found in 2013.

Color is very intense and characteristic with some zoning. With some matrix included in malachite. A very representative specimen and from a classic Katanga mining area.

RM879   Brochantite

These specimens of brochantite from the mining area of Katanga are one of my weaknesses. The long needles of this mineral, filling cavities of the matrix, special green color, brilliance and silky luster... Pure aesthetic. I hope you enjoy it.

RM1845   Heterogenite

Kabolela Mine, Kambove District, Katanga Copper Crescent, Katanga, Congo, Democratic Republic of

Heterogeneite specimens of Kabolela are among the most appreciated by systematic mineral collectors. This piece shows a botryoidal aggregate, of which we consider HCoO2 formula, according to the latest studies on the species. Intense black color, brilliance, waxy luster... A classic and very aesthetic definitive specimen.

RM709   Malachite

Luishia Mine, Katanga, Katanga Copper Crescent, Katanga, Congo, Democratic Republic of

A huge size specimen of acicular malachite forming fan-shaped aggregates. Excellent and characteristic green color and superb brilliance. It shows a vug layered by needle crystal terminations those give an even darker green. With some rocky matrix.


Size: 11,3 x 6,4 x 5,7 cm.

 

RM1887   Curite and heterogenite

Shinkolobwe Mine, Shinkolobwe, Katanga Copper Crescent, Katanga, Congo, Democratic Republic of

Very rich curite specimen, with some intense orange color crystals and the rest black due to being coated by heterogenite. The sample comes from the former Coune collection and according to its owner was adquired from the 90s, but specimen could be older. Curite crystals are disposed in a very contrasted way on the white matrix. From the type locality for the species.
