RM1547 Hisingerite
Brunnsjögruvan, Grythyttan, Hällefors, Västmanland, SwedenHisingerite is a rare hydrated iron hydroxylsilicate and its type locality is Riddarhyttan (Sweden), near from this specimen locality we offer. This sample shows radial laminar aggregates with an intense dark brown to almost black color, with metallic luster. Specimens of hisingerite are very rare and this piece is from the collection of Renaud Vochten (1933-2012), a well-known Belgian collector of mineralogical rarities. This specimen was adquired by Mr. Vochten in 1975 to V. H. Sørensen.
Size: 7.2 x 6.5 x 3.8 cm.
