RM521 Azurite with Malachite after azurite
Kerrouchen, Khénifra, Meknès-Tafilalet, MoroccoBrilliant and sharp azurite crystals that have growth in separate vugs, with prismatic forms and defined terminal faces. With good color, luster and some transparency, one of them is partly substituted by malachite. Disposed in two cavities of this hard rocky matrix.
In Kerrouchen, a classic Moroccan mineral locality, each miner has his own "hole" and get its samples. There are several mines aligned on a particular stratigraphic level, with low gallery development. Miners obtain the specimens by hammering, so obtaining them in matrix it is not easy.
Size: 7,5 x 6,0 x 4,5 cm.
Main crystal: 11 x 10 mm.
Found in 02/2013.
